Finger Eleven is an alternative rock band that has earned a devoted following. Their first album, Letters From Chutney, was recorded under the name Rainbow Butt Monkeys, with money won from a rock band search contest on local radio. They changed their name to Finger Eleven for their breakthrough Tip, released on Mercury Records in Canada and re-released by Wind-Up Records in the United States in 1998. The name Finger Eleven comes from an earlier version of the song Thin Spirits from the album Tip. Lead singer, Scott Anderson explains: "when everything is pushing you in one direction and your instinct drives you in another--that’s finger eleven." A year later, drummer Rob Gommerman left the band and was replaced by Rich Beddoe.

Complicated Question Lyrics

Finger Eleven

Easy to be taken with everything you're saying
Make us perfect and say it all again
But if every single second's killing
Tell me I'm dreaming
I'll sleep it all away
Tear out this love
Tear up the root
Tear out this love
Tear me from you
You know you can tell me anything you want to
Tell me something that I'd never know
You could be cautious as the words roll over your tongue
I'm stung with sick discovery
Tear out this love
Tear up the root
Tear out this love
Tear me from you
Tear me from the complicated questions
Taking all the empty spaces inside me
I don't want to hear these simple answers
But complicated answers
Never did you any justice anyway
And I don't want to hear you lie to me
Complicated as we are
We're going to have to burn it all away
Tell me now if every single second's killing
Tell me I'm dreaming
Complicated questions
Taking all the empty spaces inside me
I don't want to hear these simple answers
But complicated answers
Never did you any justice anyway
And I don't want to hear you lie to me
Complicated as we are
We're gonna tear up this love
Tear out this love
Tear up the root
Tear out this love
Tear me from you
