Finger Eleven is an alternative rock band that has earned a devoted following. Their first album, Letters From Chutney, was recorded under the name Rainbow Butt Monkeys, with money won from a rock band search contest on local radio. They changed their name to Finger Eleven for their breakthrough Tip, released on Mercury Records in Canada and re-released by Wind-Up Records in the United States in 1998. The name Finger Eleven comes from an earlier version of the song Thin Spirits from the album Tip. Lead singer, Scott Anderson explains: "when everything is pushing you in one direction and your instinct drives you in another--that’s finger eleven." A year later, drummer Rob Gommerman left the band and was replaced by Rich Beddoe.

Good God have I been dreaming
This paralyzing feeling?
Was I left alone? where have you gone?
Were you somewhere else just sleeping?
If I wait to wake you
Ill never ask you
Would you take my hand?
In the deepest end
Would you stay and drown in me?
My open eyes see everything
But Im passing all the days
Through a window pane
And as the scene would change
Id stay the same
This paradise was nothing new
But the paradise gets tired of you
A single conversation
Stole my attention
My open eyes see everything
And you see nothing
And dont forget it
